Welcome to MOARK
Hi, Welcome to MOARK IC!
Interstitial Cystitis (IC) is a chronic inflammatory bladder condition that can cause a range of symptoms from mild tenderness and urgency, or low back pain, to severe, agonizing pain and burning. The symptoms can differ greatly between patients and even the same person daily. Many conditions often accompany IC, making treatment difficult and very individual.
Treatment is frustrating not only to the patient but also to the healthcare professionals treating IC patients. Our goal is to help you, with your physician, find the coping tools that work for you! We also are here to reassure you that your not alone and maybe even help you meet some IC friends near home too!
It is our dream at MOARK IC to be a great resource for patients and medical professionals here at home in Missouri and Arkansas, (and the KC area too), that goes well beyond the internet into the daily lives of people here! If you are a patient please stop by and let us know your here. If you are a healthcare provider, or have a great healthcare provider that treats IC patients, please let us know, so we can include them in our medical resource guide! Our heart is to be here to help you, together we can make a difference in our region!

New research study looking for particpants
New Research Study being started at WU in St. Louis. Details and contact information below, if your interested in participating!
This is a 12 month study. After the first visit
(Screening/Baseline visit), participants will be asked to come back to the
clinical center twice during the next 12 months, as well as complete a brief
biweekly (every other week) and bimonthly (every other month) computer
questionnaires at home in between clinic visits. In addition to the clinic
visits and online assessments, during the next 12 months participants will be
asked to collect a maximum of 4 home urine samples to aid in our study of how
symptoms change over time. Participants will also be given the option to enroll
in additional network research studies that will provide new and important
information for the main study.
We
have begun recruiting so please feel free to pass this information on to your
support group members. Please have them call me at 314-454-7325 and I can answer
any questions about the study and see if they are eligible to
participate.
We
are also recruiting chronic prostatitis patients.

NEW ICA ARTICLE ON BLADDER INSTILLS
The ICA has released an excellent new resource on bladder instillations
especially for those doing them at home! Check it out at the link below!
Many patients are sharing with us a decrease in symptoms with the vaginal suppositories. There is not a lot of info out there for doctor's on this new treatment option yet, however we have a letter available for you to take to your doctor to better explain them and the dosages suggested at the link below. We are working on getting more information on them and will post that on the site as soon as possible! Please share with us your treatment success or failure stories as well. Together we can make a difference in our region!
